Offline-First & Local Storage

Generous Way is designed with an offline-first architecture. Your Bible reading history, personal notes, focused Pomodoro sessions, habit logs, giving entries, and private reflective journals are stored locally on your device in a secure local database. While we collect minimal data for account management, app functionality, and product analytics (such as high-level completion events), your core reflective journals and exact financial details remain strictly on your device.

Transparent Data Practices

We collect only what is necessary to provide you with a seamless experience. For users who create an account, we collect limited personal identifiers to provide onboarding assistance, maintain app functionality, and share relevant updates. We do not index your private prayers or track your financial data for third-party advertising.

1. Introduction

Welcome to Generous Way (“we”, “our”, or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, disclosure, and protection of information in our mobile application (the “App”) and on our website (the “Site”). We are committed to protecting your personal privacy while providing a robust platform for spiritual growth.

2. Information We Collect

a) Account Information

If you choose to create an account, we collect your first name and email address. We also collect device identifiers and purchase history to manage your subscription and provide cross-device functionality.

b) User-Generated Growth Data & Anonymized Analytics

Your private journal contents, notes, reflections, and exact monetary transaction amounts remain exclusively on your device and are never transmitted. To improve the app and analyze usage, we transmit high-level anonymized completion events (e.g., that a habit, lesson, or quest was completed, or that a transaction category was logged) to our analytics processor.

c) Payment Information

All billing and subscription validations are processed via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We receive anonymized confirmation of your subscription status and purchase history to enable premium features.

3. Purpose of Collection

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Onboarding Assistance: To help you get started and personalize your experience.
  • App Functionality: To manage your account, validate subscriptions, and ensure features work correctly across your devices.
  • Marketing & Promotional Communications: To send you relevant updates, newsletters, and promotional offers. You can opt-out of these at any time.

4. Sharing Your Information & Analytics

We do not sell your personal data. We share information with third-party service providers and processors who perform services on our behalf. These include infrastructure, analytics, and subscription management providers. These partners are contractually obligated to protect your data and only use it for the purposes we specify.

Specifically, we use PostHog for product analytics and session replay. Session replay records user screen interactions to help us diagnose technical issues and optimize the user interface. We do not record sensitive user inputs, private text journals, or financial transaction details, and all session replay recordings are kept confidential and secure.

We also use Tenjin to perform campaign attribution and mobile analytics. This helps us measure the conversion path of users from marketing materials to app installation and subscription.

Additionally, we use Firebase Crashlytics to collect diagnostic reports and crash logs. This helps us monitor app stability, identify bugs, and improve overall performance. Crash reports include device-specific info (like OS version and device model) but do not contain personal identifier records or private user text.

5. Your Choices & Opt-Out

You have control over your information and how we communicate with you:

  • Marketing Emails: You can withdraw your consent or unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of our emails.
  • App Settings: You can manage your communication preferences directly within the App via the toggle in the settings screen.
  • Account Deletion: You can delete your account via the App settings or by requesting deletion via email.

6. Data Deletion

You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time. We provide two primary methods for this:

  • In-App Deletion: You can delete your account by navigating to the Settings screen within the App and tapping the “Delete Account” button. This process is immediate and will remove your account record from our servers.
  • Email Request: You can also request account and data deletion by emailing us at support@generousway.com. Please use the email address associated with your account.

Note: Deleting your account removes data from our cloud servers. Since your interactive growth data (journals, highlights, etc.) is stored locally, you must uninstall the App from your device to completely remove all local data.

7. Local Database Storage

While account data is managed on our servers, your interactive growth data remains strictly on your device. Uninstalling the App or clearing your device data will remove this local data. We recommend maintaining regular device backups to protect your local information.

8. GDPR & CCPA Compliance

We respect your rights under GDPR and CCPA. You have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal information. Since your core growth data is stored locally, you maintain direct control over it through the App's interface and by managing the App on your device.

9.Children's Privacy

Our App is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age without parental consent.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may periodically update this Privacy Policy. Any changes will be posted here with a revised “Last Updated” timestamp.
